June Graduation & Open House Feature

On Sunday, June 9th our school gathered together at the Ace Hotel in Downtown Portland to celebrate 31 students who successfully completed training programs this semester. We graduated students from our Art of the Seer : Clairvoyant Training, Art of the Warrior : Men’s Advanced Clairvoyant Training, Art of the Dreamer : Astral Body Healer Training, and Women’s Clairvoyant Training. We also gave a special award for extra-ordinary giving to staff member Laura Fouts for her participation as a healing coach in the Astral Body Healer Training.

We had a total of over 80 people in attendance, including friends, family members, and curious onlookers who wanted to learn more about the school, what we teach at Portland Psychic School, and how we teach it. The energy in the room was exciting, dynamic, and full of enthusiasm! As a community of seekers, healers, and clairvoyants, it is very gratiifing to come together twice a year to celebrate the dedication, participation, and growth of the students across the school.

Congratulations to all the graduates and best wishes on your next steps!

What’s New @ PPS for Fall 2019

Every time we hold a graduation event and we unleash a group of skilled, talented psychics into the wild, I am humbled and filled with gratitude for what our amazing team of teachers and staff are able to do at Portland Psychic School each week. Whether it is teaching all of our various trainings both online and in-person, running our weekly healing drop-ins each week or our Open Houses each month, overseeing and coaching students in our Reading Lab space, or giving beautiful and masterful psychic hellos to clients and new students, the commitment of these extraordinary individuals is palpable and humbling.

I am also filled with awe at the bravery of our students; learning to turn on and master your own individual psychic abilities is something that requires one to dig deep. There are weeks when working through the energy to sit in their personal meditation practice, Clairvoyant classes, or reading labs is easy - there are weeks when it is hard! Just like mastering any art or craft, it takes a commitment to oneself and a desire to grow and change in sometimes unexpected ways.

This fall I am excited that we are expanding the breadth of our Meditation class offerings - including downloadable, self-paced, on-demand classes; the cornerstone of the school is the psychic meditation tools and one’s ability to focus inward and start to discern what is your energy and what is not. These advanced classes take this practice deeper and to a new level of nuance in application. I am also excited about the continued growth of our Energy Healing Program with the addition of a new Women’s Intuition & Healing level 2 Class and our new, 3 day Energy Healing Bootcamps. The next Art of the Healer : Energy Healing Training that begins in October looks like a fantastic opportunity for those interested in how to affect change in energy can learn how to do so in a way that is magical, consistent, and real.

As the school continues to grow, we are meeting new students around the country and internationally, and I think that speaks to the passion, enthusiasm, and mastery of our teaching staff. I often hear them comment on how much they learn by working with our students; real education is truly symbiotic, and in a healthy environment focused on growth everyone gets a chance to deepen their meditation, healing, or clairvoyant practice by using every experience as an opportunity to look inward and have more of their own energy present and active in their life.

Interview with Andrew Staub

Teacher of the Art of the Mystic Training

Hey Andrew, thanks for taking the time to chat with me a bit. We met about 13 years ago, and we’ve been working together ever since, so I take for granted how unusual and incredible the life is that you’ve created for yourself - I mean that as a compliment. You’re our furthest “out there” teacher at PPS, being that you live as an expat in Cuenca, Ecuador! So I thought it would be nice to hear a bit from you about who you are and what being psychic means to you.

You’re a lawyer, right? Tell me, how does a lawyer end up teaching psychics?

  • I hired a temporary administrative assistant who was a graduate of the psychic school literally a half block down the street from our office. It was all downhill from there!

When did you realize that this being psychic thing was real for you?

  • When I received my first student reading at this school. Never before had I felt so seen, and this was by five women I had never encountered in my life. Maybe also when I read Stranger in a Strange Land by Robert Heinlein when I was 13, which really resonated with me.

Do you have any memories of “aha” moments when you were learning the Art of Clairvoyance? What was the biggest deal for you?

  • When i learned to read a past life for the first time. It was so vivid and real, and definitely did not come from my own imagination.

What are you binging (tv) right now?

  • Just finished with Game of Thrones. Looks like there are some good ones on HBO and Netflix coming up soon.

You live in Ecuador. Did you always want to live abroad? What is that mock-up about for you?

  • Basically I got fed up with the rat race. South America was both an adventure and affordable.

Part 2 - any good stories about being a psychic abroad?

  • I taught a basic meditation and healing class to expats living where I live. It was received extremely well as a large percentage of expats there had spiritual awareness and a strong desire to learn about energy. Everyone seemed attuned to and understood being psychic in some way.

You’re teaching the year-long Art of the Mystic : Spiritual Autonomy Training. It’s currently the “capstone” course at PPS, as in it is the most advanced training that we offer. What is it? Why would someone want to take that course? What would someone hope to get from it? What is the course like?

  • The SA Training is a one-on-one training for students who have developed their abilities and want to gain additional seniority over their spiritual life, both for this and for future lives. The training takes students into realms unexplored in previous courses. It is also an intense, solo journey, where you get to have your own experience and find your own answers about what being psychic means for you and how you want to apply that to your life and creative goals.

Why are you passionate about teaching it? What do you get out of it?

  • I love teaching students who are interested in exploring their spiritual lives and their existence as a spiritual being.

Any good jokes?

New 5 Week Meditation & Healing Classes this Fall

These are some of the new upcoming classes we’re offering in person and online this fall. Click the photo to learn more and enroll! The Psychic Meditation Class is a pre-requisite for these offerings.

We asked some of our students who graduated this past weekend to share some of their experience. These are their responses!

I had thousands and zero expectations for the Clairvoyant training all at the same time. I thought I would be a whole new person and yet still be the same me. While this is true, I didn’t expect the foundation of myself to change. I interact with the world differently now and I can’t go back to how I was, nor would I want to. I also thought learning to be a Clairvoyant would be impossible. However, I learned it was actually very obtainable and the hardest part of the training, for me, was/is being seen. I have always been very selective about who sees me and who doesn’t. This training has taught me that I don’t need to hide because I have the tools to navigate around the energy that comes with being seen. I am still very much in a growth period about this, and I am definitely making up for all the resisting I’ve done in the past, but I finally get to have myself and my abilities for me!
— Rachel Chaney - Art of the Seer Graduate
What we do in our dreams is actually changing our real, every day physical world! In fact, it is the precursor to it. This is totally mind blowing. Working the energy of that space has created a lot of very real change and growth for me. One of the biggest things I noticed is that I started having my OWN dreams, and noticing where I was acting out a role in the dreams of others. Also, traveling in the astral is totally weird and fun! I now have a newfound respect and gratitude for a part of my life that I was more or less unconscious to before. I am so grateful for this! I ended the training by throwing out my old lumpy mattress and buying a new cushy one. It felt a little like buying a new convertible to take me to the land of dreams!
— Norina Beck - Astral Body Healer
At a certain point in my training, I became aware of something that had fused together within me. At first I didn’t know what it was, but I was aware of it even though I couldn’t describe it. I started to realize that it’s ok for me to be the kind of man that I always knew I was. I tend to be more introverted, and I always felt judged about that. I can be simple, I can run my energy at a lower vibration, I can operate at a slower pace, and I can separate myself energetically from the world around me, and it’s all going to be ok. When I can be myself in my own space and in the world, it truly is a magical and awesome experience. I got to have that in this training.
— Shea Stokes - Art of the Warrior Graduate
I have always tracked my dream life and entered the astral training wanting to work the energy of my dream space to experience more agency in my dreaming. The astral training was set at a very magical tone and I didn’t expect the healing element and tools which was such a strong gift of the training, different from the clairvoyant training. I especially enjoyed developing my relationship to self healing in my space using neutral energy which is something I bring in on a daily basis now. This is such a rich training, with so much gentleness and also deep healing available, I feel very grateful for what I have experienced and look forward to continuing my work on the astral.
— Julia Rich - Astral Body Healer
When I first joined the Astral Training I had no idea what I had signed up for. I had interest based on curiosity about my own experiences and wanting to know what my dreams meant. In this training I received and learned so much more than I could have imagined. I’m blown away at how much we do and create in the astral. This is an incredible and magical space to read and give healings too. I got to have a lot of space and healing for myself and tools that I’ll be using for the rest of my life. Learning how to read in a new way was pretty great too. So thankful for this class!
— Rachel Trujillo - Astral Body Healer

Changing the World

One Crown Chakra at a Time

Your crown chakra contains your ability to communicate with your own spirit and to know your own answers.

Also known as the 7th chakra, your crown chakra is the part of you that helps you know yourself, and to know your own truth.

There is a lot of competition for what you know, and for what you get to know. Many people are invested in how and what you know, and whether you are allowed to know. More than a few would prefer that you don't know certain things.

Knowledge is power, and knowing changes the course of action you take. This includes how you choose to spend your energy, money, and time, who you vote for, and who you believe. What you know and when you know it literally changes the culture and therefore, history.

This is a crown chakra issue. Knowledge is Power. Knowing yourself is priceless. When you choose to dig deep and know the real you, you will make the choices that work for you. This changes the whole culture.

It's hard to un-know, once you know.

That state of being unaware or not knowing is called unconsciousness. When you don't know something yet, you're unconscious about this thing. You don't know what you don't know.

You could be in resistance to knowing what you don't want to know. Choosing to know the truth about something means you must make changes in your life, and if you're not ready to do this yet, you'll choose unconsciousness. Don't be hard on yourself if you've done this, we've all been there.

Once you begin to know, you grow. When you start opening up your awareness, it's possible to know what you couldn't know before. Like everyone else, you've had people in your crown chakra who wanted you to agree to know certain things, to believe what they believed.

Who wants you to believe what?

Throughout your life, you've had numerous people programming this part of you. Some of the programming was good for you, as in when your parents told you to look both ways before crossing the street.

Sometimes people gave you programming that they believed was for your own good, such as religious programming. If you don't agree with something others told you was the absolute truth, you get to look for yourself and know your truth. It's up to you to decide if any of the programming given to you works for you.

Programming is part of the game we play on earth, programming is in everything you do, say, believe, and how you see yourself and other people. You get to program yourself too, and with consciousness, this can be a life transforming beneficial thing. In order to reprogram with the information you want to have, you have to clear out the old programming that doesn't work.

Change begins within you and me and everyone else here too. The work you do on you helps create lasting change in the culture and on earth. This revolution happens effortlessly when you choose to work from your own truth, instead of unconsciously following what you were taught since childhood.

I will do my best to not judge you for what you believe.

But I will ask you where you picked up that belief system you hold so tightly to your chest. What did you agree to as being true, and whose truth is it? Did you look? Furthermore, who benefits from 'everyone' agreeing that this is the truth we should accept, and to create our laws accordingly?

Have you ever found yourself in a situation where you suddenly knew that what was being presented to you as absolute truth, wasn't?

Here are a few famous "truths" in history that people made up because it suited them.

If you were taught that any of this was the real truth, you were programmed to believe it as fact:

  • When I was in grammar school, school children in the United States were taught about manifest destiny, which was the name used by European settlers in the U.S. as justification for taking over the entire country and killing any indigenous people who stood in their way. Calling the native people who already lived here 'savages and heathens' added to the lie that was told about who had the right to be here. These settlers chose to believe that their version of God granted them the divine right to be here and take this land. In other words, because invaders to this continent chose to believe this, they had no problem slaughtering the millions of indigenous people already living here. We are all worse off for the loss of what these cultures knew and how they lived. This is a crown chakra issue that affects all of us to this day.

  • Slavery in America. It was convenient for slave owners to believe that they had the right to steal people from their native land and force them to be their slaves. This lie made a fortune from the unpaid labor of millions of slaves.

  • Slavery isn't gone, by the way, so don't believe that lie either. In this country, it has transformed itself into the privately owned prison system. Human trafficking is a worldwide problem.

Here's a few lies taught as truth from my favorite self-imploding institution, the Catholic Church:

  • Woman came from the rib of a man, and therefore is lesser than, man.

  • Women who are inconvenient, too powerful, or disobedient are witches in league with Satan. When the new cult of Christianity started sweeping Europe in the late 3rd to 10th centuries, the newly minted 'Christians' thought it best to wipe out their competition. Women were the healers, the keepers of knowledge about the body, herbs, and medicine, along with information about the earth.

  • The Adam and Eve myth was created in order to blame women for humanity's fall from grace by claiming that Eve disobeyed the word of God when she ate from the Tree of Knowledge. In other words, don't try to know something you're not allowed to know. The lies built into this programming run deep into our current day.

The Catholic Church doesn't teach about the Burning Times and how it purposely set out to destroy the old religions, many of which had women in high positions of power. It is this brutal history that destroyed a large body of information about healing, herbs, and much more. Historians of the Burning Times claim anywhere from 60,000 to 600,000 people were executed for the crime of witchcraft, between the 13th and 17th centuries. Some historians claim higher numbers of people were murdered at this time in the name of the new religion. Watch this powerful documentary to learn more: The Burning Times.

These lies are deeply programmed into our culture, and affect us all greatly to this day. This is a crown chakra issue.

This is why representation matters.

If you don't see anything in your culture that resembles you as a person of autonomy, strength, and power, you will have a more difficult time creating that reality. History matters; it's challenging to get the true history, because history is told from the point of view of the 'winner'. The real history is covered up when truth is inconvenient. This is a crown chakra issue.

In a capitalist system, you will be programmed to see your history according to the agenda set by Capitalism. An economic system like this one benefits from you not knowing who you really are. That doesn't mean you don't get to know. You must choose for yourself.

When you know your own self, your truth, you are powerful. A good way to begin is to ask yourself, what don't you know that you don't know?
