Community @ PPS

When you’re developing your psychic abilities, and participating in a class or training program, one thing that people find helpful is community. It’s nice to know that you’re not going through it alone! This is why all of our classes and trainings are group classes; it’s valuable and helpful to share experiences and connect with like-minded people. This is very easy to do in person at our school in Portland; you see people in classes and labs each week and it’s easy to build relationships with them. It’s harder to do online, and we have a vibrant and active online base of students. So one of the challenges we’ve encountered is how to transfer the sense of community to the overall school and how to be inclusive of our online students.

We started looking around at “communities” and we heard the word being used, but what it usually means is a series of monthly “networking” or self-promoting events, a Facebook page, a group of customers that has loyalty towards a specific brand, a yearly conference, all customers of an e-commerce brand, social media followers - but we don’t think these are conscious, spiritual communities. They are casual and superficial at best, start to feel kind of “churchy”, or are something you have to “pay to play” (like charging a membership fee to be in it), which we find to be the worst kind of community!

We are also aware that communities today are evolving and changing; people have busy, full lives and only have part of their attention to give to their psychic colleagues and fellow students. At PPS we are committed to updating the definition of what community means in present time. Our community space is online, via a web-based app called Mobilize. Through this app, we are able to foster online conversation spaces where students can engage with each other, their teachers, and the school in a variety of ways. In addition to the overall community, we create smaller groups for each class, training, or area of study where people can engage with each other in targeted and specific conversations and relationships. The most important part of our community is that you are in charge of your engagement at all times.

Our community space at PPS will always be free; we will never charge you a membership fee. All you have to do is enroll in a beginning level workshop or The Psychic Meditation Class and you’ll be added to our Mobilize group. In this group we post discussion topics, complimentary psychic meditation drop-in events, free healing opportunities, and more - this is a growing, active, and engaging space. A conscious community is about relationships, giving and receiving, and co-creating.
